A lot of people I meet ask why I do this and my response is almost always to ask what they would do if they have 1 year left to live and most people agree that travel is something they would probably do. Now I don't like cliches but its kind of a why wait thing, nobody knows how long they are actually gong to live so you should try to do things that you want to do when you can, seize the moment and all that. The world is also changing and who knows by how much, a country I visit now could be the next Syria and then you can never see what was there if you miss it.
I normally work as an accountant in London which I have done in various roles for several different companies. I have left London for almost 8 months to travel south east Asia. Unlike a lot of other backpackers and tourists I'm not so much searching for hedonistic pleasure and the perfect holiday experience and am interested in understanding how places work which may explain some of the blogs content and some of the travel choices I make (or maybe this is me justifying my choices). I used to collect things as a child and once tried to collect medicine boxes I saw outside a pharmacy (I was young), so l may have a tendency to write about things like how many steps I do, how many world heritage sites I see etc.
This blog should be a truthful account of events with most omissions due to the event not being worth mentioning.
I hope you enjoy the blog and whether you do or don't, please leave your comments which can only help improve it.
