I got up 7am and the room was dry from the air conditioner. I showered and got my things together and then went to their hostel where I blogged a bit on the computer until Clive came down. We all sat downstairs and Frances not feeling well but didn't have any paracetamols and Clive had the 500 yen breakfast buffet while I slowly toasted my profiteroles which took a while and were not very good. I had bought them frozen in Nara and not been able to cook them there and had taken them to Kyoto but I probably should have just left them. We all headed out and after trying to buy paracetamols which were really expensive we walked to the nearest temple based on a walk in the lonely planet book Clive had in pdf format. Clive wanted an SD card for his camera as he'd forgotten to bring one and they were also expensive so we didn't buy anything. We went a different way by mistake and and ended up a bit in the middle of the walk and went to see a temple there which was ok and then we went through the park north to get to the next temple which had a ¥500 charge but it was one of the highlights according to the guide so Clive and I went in while Frances stayed outside resting as she didn't feel too good. Clive liked the peaceful nature of the place and it was nice but a bit small and dull for me although the garden was very nicely done with perfectly manicured plants and a pond which was why a married couple were getting their wedding photos there. We left and headed back to the park where the ponds had no water which was not so good. We came to a museum and then managed to find our way to the popular tourist attraction street which I didn't think was very special and then we looked for lunch and found a place where we got Bento boxes. After that we went past a pagoda to another temple where we paid to go in and it had some scaffolding but most of it was in good condition and it was a bit popular with other tourists. It had a platform and a view over some lower land nearby and we separated there so I could climb a hill there and they wanted to go back. I walked for a short while but the hill path was gated shut so I left and headed to a museum and got some ice cream on the way. The museum was closed as it was a Monday and was also expensive so I headed west to a bank museum that was also closed. It looked like it was the wrong day for where I was but I went to the main train station and went back up on the sky walk for another look around as its a big place and the walkway is about 15 floors up it was worth another look. After that I started heading back to the hostel and went through and looked around an IT shopping centre which was disappointingly expensive but I messaged Clive to see if there was an SD card he wanted but I lost WiFi and didn't get a response in time so I headed back and there weren't many shops on the way, just lots of town houses. I went through the market street attraction which was packed and slow moving and also overpriced so I exited when I could and stopped at a supermarket which was not great but I got something to eat. I got back to the hostel and ate before meeting up with Clive and Frances who were feeling better and also had their luggage back. We headed out together north on river and crossed over some turtle stones which were higher than the very low flowing river and Clive took some photos there. We carried on up the river and crossed to the middle island like area where there was a shrine which was a UNESCO site but as it was late it was closed. We went back on the other (west) side of the river to the hostel and I went and got one of my SD cards for Clive to use once we freed up some memory space. Then we sat in the kitchen/lounge area downstairs and played the Red7 game and a person staying there who Clive had met called Alex joined us for the game. I was late back to my hostel and I thought I would need door code but someone let me in and I went to bed soon after.
