I woke up at 7.30, was a better nights sleep but still a bit cold. I did the usual morning things and headed out soon after 8 with checkout at 1pm. I first looked for breakfast and eventually had cold noodles at a diner place for 40 pesos. Then I headed to a supermarket and bought a few things including peanuts, plasters, juice and fruit. I drank the juice and was eating the watermelon when I got to the cathedral so I found a bin to finish before visiting. The cathedral was a bit plain inside for a Catholic country and they looked to be starting service soon. It looked ok from outside and they had a notice to wear sleeve clothes and trousers so my Myanmar trousers came to the rescue again. I left and went to the bus station and walked around to find bus timesvand Victory left from a different place further away while Joy was fully booked. The next place I asked was Genesis and they showed me where the bus is which apparently leaves every hour and has no booking. Then I went to a nearby shopping mall called SM as it was on the maps app to see the view from the balcony but the balcony was blocked for cleaning. There was a long queue at the mall which opened at 10am so I waited a few minutes and went in when it opened. There was access to the balcony from the inside so it was worth waiting but as I went out I saw there were balconies on the upper floors as well so I went up for the better view. A lot of people were queuing for the cinema but I was interested in the tech shops to see what they had and I found a USB and a mini SD card for reasonable prices so I got them. Leaving the mall I went to a university campus and then a park called sunshine park and then a museum of Bagiuo. I considered whether to go in bit they had some history of the place and it was 50 pesos so I had a look and at least learnt a few things about the place. Next was a couple of Japanese memorials and then I walked through a large park past an athletics track and skating rink (roller not ice) and came to the boating lake which is on the same axis as the city hall, an American design feature. I went around the lake but couldn't get out of the park where I wanted so had to go to the end and visited an orchidarium which was just a place where people sell normal plants and flowers. I got round to our lady of Lourdes, a church with a monument of Mary which had been there quite a long time. It was getting on and I wanted to be back early to do a few things. There was still a few things to see so I went back to the park for a fountain and better views of the city hall, then I went to the hall itself which was busy as they let people in for medical and other things. went round the back to see a couple more buildings and then 2 churches before I headed back stopping for some lunch off deep fried banana and noodle things at the supermarket. Back at the hotel I packed up and checked out and asked if I could leave my suitcase but they don't normally do that. The security guy was more amenable to me leaving it there at my own risk which was fine by me and would have meant I could tip him as he'd been ok and carried my suitcase upstairs the day before and I would have done it if there was anything to see in town but the museum for a general was apparently quite expensive so I decided to take the suitcase with me to a park. I sat outside eating and the security guy talked to me and seemed to think I should be travelling with a lady friend. I took my suitcase to the park which is kind of on the way to the bus station and sat on a bench. It had been a while since I'd treated my suitcase and we'd been through a lot so I gave it a day out in the sun and I spent most of my time sewing things like my bag and trousers which didn't look like they were really worth keeping. A man commented that it was great I was hand sewing and he hadn't seen anyone do that for years which made me wonder why I hadn't thought to get someone else to do this. There were also a lot of beggars walking around the park including one old woman with an aggressive approach who I saw 3 times.
I left the park before it got dark around 5.30 and went to an internet cafe I'd seen yesterday and stayed there until past 8 and then went with my suitcase to the bus station which wasn't so easy. I think a bus had just left and another turned up soon after which leaves at 9.30 so I went on and got a good seat in the middle and read a bit. The bus journey was not great as it was a little too cold, possibly because there were not so many peoples body heat and they also played music which was too loud. Eventually I went to the back which was bumpier but the engine drowned out the music and I could lie down.
