I got up at 6.30, it was certainly warmer than Seoul so I got ready and found a pair of socks in my room someone must have left so I took them as I was low ion socks. I had breakfast and left wearing tracksuit and a jacket leaving the key in the basket where I'd first found it. It was a fair walk to the bus station and I sweated on the way and went past the tombs again which I must have gone past the first night but with it being dark and being in a rush I'd missed them. I got to the bus station and got a ticket to Busan for just 4,600 but it didn't have a time on. I looked up snd thry had s list of times including 8.40 and 9.40. It was 8.45 so I'd just missed one and lost an hour, I should have gone to the express bus terminal as I'd read the buses were every 20 minutes and this was the intercity terminal. I went to the toilet and changed into shorts and a lighter t-shirt and when I came back there was a bus at platform 10 so I checked and it went to Busan so I took it and we left a bit after 9. I didn't have much time to even get my blog done let alone read as we arrived before 10 and again everyone was gone in no time at all. I went to the subway and there was the option of the 1 day pass for the price of 3 tickets and I tried to work out where I would go. One place was Beomosa temple which was very close to where I was so if I could leave my luggage I could save tkme and a trip. I found a storage place but the lockrs were 4,500 and 3,500. I managed to squeeze it in the 3,500 but decided it wasn't an hour saved it was less so I got the 1 day pass and went on the subway. I put my luggage up on the racks and was distracted on my phone when I heard Busan university station which was my stop so I quickly grabbed my things and got off went down the stairs and couldn't see a transfer line. I checked the station name and it was Pusan university, I'd got off 2 stops early. I went back and got the bext train snd got off at Busan university. The transfer was badly signed and I ended up going through the ticket gates so good thing I had a 1 day pass. I eventually found the transfer board pointing to a brick wall so I'm guessing they haven't built the line yet so I went back and got back on the train and took it another stop where I changed lines and then a few stops later changed again and eventually got to the right place. It was about 11am as I'd lost a lot of time and it was stsrting to rain, Budan weather was not as goid as Gyeongju. I couldn't see the hostel at first but I had the address and found it, with a Korean only sign. The girl there wouldn't check me in until 3pm so I used the toilet to change into trousers and my earlier t-shirt and packed sn umbrella. My bag weighed a bit and as I found out later I still had my kindle in the bag. I took the metro and was going to the west to a temple on a peninsula but changed my mind and decided to get off earlier and go to the Busan museum and UN cemetery. The roads were a bit all over the place, some curved others straight and I bought a big chunk of tofu for 1,300 on my way. The museum was free but the 1st (ground) floor was closed so they only had the 2nd floor of prehistory (yay) and the early years so I was finished fairly soon. I walked around in the garden area and out to the UN memorial cemetery which had a sign requesting silence, no eating and appropriate dress, no tracksuits (whoops). It was a nice, new place with quite a lot of UK soldiers buried there (the Americans took theirs home). I left and was heading towards a big bridge to take me to a peninsula as part of a planned circular route and I came to the UN memorial hall which was not on my map. It was like a Korean war museum but from a UN perspective more and with general things about the UN as well. There were some kids running and screaming but as soon as a big screen was put on they were all quiet, it's no wonder some parents just stick their kids in front of the TV. I used a water machine which had hot water to cook my tofu and noodles so I could eat them and left following a sign to the UN memorial monument which was up a lot of steps which at least gave me some good views as the monument was rubbish. Still I was going in the right direction so I carried on and came to a temple. There were dead ends and construction work so I thought I might have to go a long way round but there was a route through so I went up to the top of the hill and then down the other side and on to the bridge. The road was elevated long before the bridge and looked like a motorway which wasn't a good sign but I kept going and saw steps up but when I got there they were inside a secure area with a door that was locked. I walked on a bit further but there was no way onto the bridge so I headed back to a train station about 1km away. I got there and couldn't see the station so I checked the map and the station was behind the fence for the dock area, stranger still. I had a closer look and the tracks looked old and ran over the road but there were no barriers to stop cars so it looked like this was a disused railway still on my map. It was a fair walk to the subway and there were no busses around, my circular route had turned into a foolish detour. I walked a little bit in the wrong direction to see a ramp up to the elevated motorway and there was no space for walking then I headed to the underground and got a view of the dock area and the bridge from a hilltop. I had eaten a lot of my food and actually felt sated for once but I saw some cheap biscuits and got them and then a shop selling bruised apples cheap and I bought a bowl of 6 bruised apples for 1,000. I got to the train and took it 1 stop to the interchange but the other line went the wrong way and it was hard to find the other direction. I ended up leaving the train and going through the barrier then back to the right platform. I took it 2 stops and realised I was going the wrong way. I couldn't explain it, it was like someone had taken me over for a bit, done something stupid then put me back to deal with it. I changed back and had lost more time but Busan mentioned a Lotte mall which had an aqua show on the hour and I would be there close to 5pm now. I saw the fountain show which lasted 10 minutes and is in the Guinness book of records and then went up to the roof which had a rooftop garden area and nice views. I went down and saw their supermarket but I still had food so I left and went to the hill with the tower on. There was an escalator up which reminded me of Hong Kong but then the tower area was closed possibly for renovations which was disappointing, not that I was likely to go up it. I walked around and down and stoped in a church before the modern history museum which was closing at 6pm. The wikitravel article said it closed at 8pm so I was disappointed, I would have gone here earlier at 5pm if I'd known. Still I had more time now so I went to the fish market that I was going to miss and had a look around. They had loads of live fish, crabs even octopuses and cuttlefish which I'd loved seeing when diving where here. I've been to these places before so it wasn't that different and as a kid going to Swanage they always had live crabs and lobsters for sale there. I left and went through an underground market back towards the metro and bought a pair of socks for 1k on the way. I went back to the Lotte supermarket where they had things to taste, I could possibly live if them if I really wanted. I had a look around but it wasn't that cheap and I only bought a discounted tuna sandwich. I took the tube and got off at an area the paper map of Busan had highlighted. It didn't look like much, I was expecting a lively shopping area and I got a pot noodle and walked to the next station then headed home. The hostel was quiet and I had a room to myself with a combination lock. I had seen the toilet earlier had lots of buttons so I tried it out but after being squirted with water I didn't try any other buttons. They had s laptop there which they said I could use so after getting some research done for Japan I tried it out but it wouldn't connect to the internet. The girl there used her phone as a wireless hotspot but Weebly was blocked and she couldn't keep her phone on so she let me use her laptop which was slow but I got a little bit done before going to bed.
