I woke up late around 8am or 8.30 and had some breakfast of bananas and bread and then packed including food. Jose came with me and we were going to the waterfalls in the middle of the island. We got to a temple on the way and I took out my camera but the battery was flat and there was a whole day ahead so I ran back and left Jose there. Some dogs barked at me as I was running which slowed me down ad it was also hot so it took longer than I expected. I got the battery and ran back, and it took closer to 15 minutes than the 10 minutes I said I would be. Jose was waiting, and I took a couple of pictures including one of a building which was a crematorium with a big chimney. Then we headed on and it was quite a long walk along the main road before we turned off onto smaller road. We came to an elephant place with one elephant eating and there wasn't much else to see so we left and was soon at waterfall area. We started on the path and followed the sign and there were 2 Dutch girls in front walking along who we started talking to. The waterfalls when we came to them were not very special at all and it seemed like there might be more but we carried on to do the circuit walk and came to a waterfall climb so we went up, but the girls had sandals and flip flops so it was harder for them. At the top the path was not great but it was a path with occasional signs so we kept going for quite a while, and there was no path on maps.me so I wasn't sure if the route but finally we got to a turning point and headed back through jungle away from the stream. It turned out we had done the long circuit which was not the plan and was not a proper path and when we got back to the place we'd been before the Dutch girl Joyce and Jose didn't want to go to viewpoint so we went back along the stream and stopped for a a bit to wet feet but not swim as the guys didn't think the water was clean enough. Back near bottom we met some people who had come from view and said it was good so the other Dutch girl Ilona and I went to the viewpoint while the others went back. The climb was not too much and the viewpoint was on rocks with a good view south east. We were sitting there looking out when a guy near to me almost fell but managed to stop himself. We stayed a bit as Ilona was enjoying the view and went back down where we found the others at the restaurant. They got some food and water, and I used WiFi and we connected on Facebook so we could maybe meet up later. I still wanted to see more, but Jose was tired so was heading back and the girls were going south on their motorbikes. I left them at the restaurant, found the main road and headed north and it was a bit of a walk before I came to a Chinese temple. It was 40 baht entry with a guy by the road a bit away from the actual temple. I took photo after asking him and then headed on and visited the next temple which was ok, but there wasn't much to see. The guy from temple offered me a lift so I got on the back and we went north near to the coast and stopped by a 7-eleven shop which was perfect for me to cool down inside and get a pot noodle snack. Then I headed to the beach and had a look at the pier. The beach looked ok but I still had a long way to go so I went back inland a little to a temple which was white. It was getting a bit late, but I still decided to see some viewpoints around the north-west of the island so I headed there. The first was in a bar and was not great. The next was just on the hill, but then I found one not marked by climbing on a pile of large stones and got a good view down to the beach and a sand bar. I headed on and followed some guys directions which turned out to be a longer route round but I arrived just as a car pulled up and a group went into a bar. I climber up for a view and the top area was unfinished but there was a good view. Then I headed down some steps and there was a level with a bar that was open and had quite a lot of people there and fairly expensive cocktails. I carried on a bit further and came to another view and a resort area called Utopia. After that I went back down and back to the junction I had been at earlier and checked my watch and it had been 40 minutes spent for views. I went along the road which went up a hill and carried on and there was quite a way to go, so I was likely to be back close to 9 or even later. I passed by Haad Salad where the Dutch girls were staying and I thought about visiting but I would be even later back then so I carried on and saw one view point and missed one. I carried on and then went to the beach and had a swim with the sun setting which was nice and the water was deep enough. I headed back to the road afterwards and it was now dark and there was still a fair distance to go. I listened to music on my Japanese phone and after a few minutes I was startled by 2 dogs who were close to me. I kicked out to back them away and my phone dropped out of my pocket. I carried on and a bit later noticed that the screen on my phone was broken which made me really angry after all these Thai dogs I'd seen on the trip which had barked at me. I stopped at a 7-eleven for some more food and then carried on and managed to miss the turning for the quickest way but then when I got further on it turned out the road I would have taken would have been dark and not properly tarmacked. I got back to town and went and checked boat prices and times in a shop. Further on the Tesco was still open as it was before 9 so I got some egg, rice, tomatoes and something else and went back to the hostel, stopping at the office to see if they had a room to stay longer and they did. Jose had been back a while and there were several young French girls in the room who were going to the Jungle party that the Dutch girls were also heading to. It was more expensive that I wanted and I'm not a great party person but I checked out a few options and I decided to stay on the island for the full moon party and I went downstairs to book the room as it was cheaper than using online but the office was shut. I read a bit and went to bed once girls had left.
