I was up at 7.30 and most people in the dorm were already up with a lot going on flights so the room was empty later on. I tried to do research and the underground river and it looked like I might have to pay the tour price of 1,540 pesos but I decided to head out and see if I could make it to Coron to see the ship wrecks so I would need to talk to the Travel2go cruise people. It was still early though so I headed towards a cemetery and a memorial park which was still being developed and looked like it would be nice when it is finished. The cemetery was a bit crowded with graves and messy on the other hand. I left the cemetery and walked towards the port and went through a poorer area where I considered buying food but there wasn't too much on sale so I only bought a small pancake. I turned and came to a cathedral which had a service on so I didn't go in. Opposite that was a memorial park for American soldiers killed by Japanese in a burning atrocity but apart from the information boards it was a small area with not much to see. I went to dock, and went in the wrong entrance twice before I was told where the shop was and went there. I spoke to the Travel2go person who said I need to bring my ticket here to get refund and a new ticket from Coron so I left and headed to the sea and went past a shop which had a tray of noodles in front so I bought 2 portions of noodles as they were only 20 pesos each. I went along bay front which was quite nice and they had a mural competition before it but nothing really worth viewing. I sat down and ate one noodle portion and googled a bit before going into town. It looked busy with lots of shops and I went into a supermarket which had no fruit but sold a lot of packet foods and I bought juice and some dried coated peas (in packets). The person in front of me in the queue had a pile of notes laid out to pay and spent 4,900 pesos on his supermarket shop. I went back to the hostel as it was near to check out time and I needed to decide what to do, I stopped at a motorbike place and another one across the road but they were 600 pesos for the day which is quite a bit. I tried to do research on the underground river and it looked possible to do a DIY trip but I would need to get to and maybe stay in Sabang and there was nowhere cheap tonight but there was the next day so I booked cafe Sabang there and another night here in Fanta lodge. I went to the reception here and they didn't have the reservation and said I hadn't paid but I wasn't sure so I said I'll sort it out later as I wanted to secure my boat first. While I was waiting for them to check the Agoda booking I ate the other noodles only the cat kept trying to eat them so it wasn't easy. I took an empty bottle of water with me and had it filled up at a water place on the way and went back to the church through a slightly different route where poor people lived. The church didn't have a service on so I had a quick look around and then went to a cafe place near the dock for lunch as it was really cheap. I walked into the dock again by mistake before getting to the Travel2go office where I gave the guy there my ticket and asked if he could change it to go from Coron. He said he would need to refund this and then process a new journey but it ended up costing me 700 pesos as they charge to cancel and then the ticket for a shorter distance was more. I asked if I could just use this one and not do the first part of the journey and he said yes so I kept the ticket but would maybe need to get to Coron before the 11th so that they know I'm getting the boat from Coron and not Puerto. As I was going to Sabang early in the morning I wanted to see how the journey would go so I headed back to the centre and then went north to see bus station on a jeepney. the journey was ok and I found the Lexus stand of the only company that go to Sabang. They leave at 8am and it was 200 pesos there which all seemed ok so I got my ticket. Near to the bus station was a market and it sold mostly fruit and veg so I had a look and bought some bananas for 1 peso each and a papaya for 20 pesos which was not so easy to eat while walking. I left the area and went to a nearby forest and a memorial park which was ok but there was only one entrance and I walked all the way around it. I got a Jeepney back to the hostel and I checked my Agoda booking and the payment hadn't gone through so I paid for the bed (250 pesos). then I got my swimstuff and walked to the beach. When I got there entrance was 40 pesos and as it was the only beach anywhere nearby on the map I paid even though it was 5pm and it said the place closed at 6pm. I rested for a bit before swimming and there were some people playing ring of fire and were then quite loud in the water when I was swimming but then there was a bar there. I went back to shore and there was a girl just having constant photos taken of her while she modeled or something. I chatted to 2 dutch guys who were quite enjoying the modelling girls swimsuit and then I went and talked to the English girls who were making the noise and they got invited to drink with locals and asked me to join so I did. One of them had his birthday this day and they had all quite a bit of rum and loads of food. Holly (one of the girls) wanted to play her music so she connected it up and we danced a bit. Her friend Lauren was more cautious and was looking to go, but we stayed while a guy tried to get off with Holly but didn't get very far. They gave me food to eat and almost insisted I have some so I did and the pork was really good and came with some plain rice and a bit of salty fish. I chatted to the chef a bit and said how good the food was and he told me he had made the pork asado with pineapple infused in it.
After a while of dancing around the guys looking like they were just waiting for us to leave so we did and got a tricycle back central for 100 pesos. The girls went to Tiki bar and I went to the Internet shop for a bit then went back to the Hostel, had a shower and chatted to people in hostel, there was a girl working in Vietnam, a Belorussian, 2 others with Jamaican accents. they talked about going to the underground river and the Jamaican guy said he'd been to Port Barton and they hadn't even though he'd not seen the underground river. It was late so I slept as I had to get up early.
