The boat arrived in Coron early around 4am, so I had a look before going back to bed. I did think about getting off just so I could say I'd been there but there was always the possibility of not being let back on. I woke up later around 7 and had slept quite well. I thought about sleeping more but decided to get up and see if there was breakfast and there was, rice with something. I sat upstairs and was still hungry so I finished off my biscuits and nuts and read some of the other free Buddhist book and someone told me that one of the Spanish guys had fallen into one of the tables and broken it - they had since repaired it with brackets. The ship started the karaoke up for another day around 10. I had a shower later and the lights went out as I was getting dressed afterwards so I put on my shorts and finished getting dressed in the corridor. I met a Polish guy called John who had got on the boat at Coron and was going kite surfing in an island south of here. Lunch was similar to previous meals, rice with a bit of meat and after John came up and sat at my table and we were joined by a Canadian couple from Edmonton who John had chatted to after chatting to me. They had also been on Coron and recommended seeing some ship wrecks which they did snorkling. We chatted for a bit and then they got worried about the sun and went downstairs for a nap. I spent some time in the shade reading and finished off crime and punishment and started Dune which I was surprised to really like as I thought I'd tried to read it before and got bored. The karaoke continued and I finished sewing my trousers as well.
The Canadians came back up around 5 when the sun was less strong. Around 6.30 I was one of the first in line for dinner so I got the Canadians as well and bought some extra rice and chicken for myself. John came back up and the Canadians let him have one of their meals and had his later once the queue had died down. We sat outside talking as the karaoke continued and John met an American who joined our table and was moving to Puerto Princesa to work but he'd never been there before. He left first to get his bags in order to leave. I packed up, returned the sheets and was ready but the Canadians said we could share a taxi so I waited for them a bit then we disembarked and walked through the first lots of taxis swarming around like vultures and they agreed a 100 pesos fare to their place which was in the same direction as mine but further. I tried to pay them 30 when I got off but they didn't let me and I walked the fairly short distance to my hostel and arrived to find it quite lively with people sitting around talking. I tried the wifi so I could research a few things but it wasn't working properly so I went out to see the town a bit and found open shops and closed motorbike rental places. The woman at the hostel sold a tour to the underground river for 1,540 and I wanted to see what the DIY options were. I found a place with street food stalls and tried some fish balls on a stick (good) and a sausage (not good). I went back to the hostel, got a beer and joined the guys at the table. There were English, a Kiwi and a Polish girl. The kiwi was talking the most and everyone went to bed fairly early so I joined them soon after.
