I woke up early around 4.35 and hadn't slept well all night despite having a jumper and socks on it was too cold and although the blanket was just about long enough it wasn't thick enough. So I got up and got my things I looked in my bag and the postcard was ruined from wet so my bag hadn't done so well after all. I headed out to see the sunset from the viewpoint and unlocked the front door but then had no way of locking it again so I left it unlocked. It was still cold outside and pretty dark so I kept my jumper on and went through the small town to a large church which I added to maps.me, but it was dark and locked. I decided to go to a memorial first as it didn't look like sunrise was soon and it was for a missionary who had settled here, preached and helped out in the community. I checked google and sunrise was at 6.28 so still a long way away, seems in all this travelling recently I'd forgotten that it was winter and I was back in the northern hemisphere not so close to the equator so the days were shorter than the 12 hours I was used to. I decided to go to the waterfall first and the walk was not so far and at 5.30 I was at the small Bombok waterfall and was soon heading back to the viewpoint. I took a shortcut through the lower section of the church which looked like a parking lot and the carried on. I got a little lost in a driveway but still made it around 6.10 and there were lots of trucks and people there for the view. I found a space and waited for the sun while people took photos of each other and selfies. Around 6.45 after a few photos it didn't look like the mist and clouds would clear so I headed back so that I could hopefully see the caves and still catch an afternoon bus to Bagio. When I got back to the road I came to the church which was now open and it wasn't finished yet which was why it was not on the map. The windows were quite nice so I stepped inside and got a photo. I decided to try to see the hanging coffins as it was not so far out of my way so I went left through a gap in the rock which turned out not to be the path. There were quite a lot of good rock formations in Sagada and some were used as cafes and bars. The next path was the right one but I still went the wrong way past someones house and thankfully turned back from a mudslide which had a 4 metre drop at the end. The path to the hanging coffins was fine but there was only about 15 there to see so I wasn't sure that was it but another tourist was there with a guide. I climbed up for a view from there before heading through a graveyard and back to town arriving there at 8am. There were buses but no one obvious to ask what times they went so I went to the hotel, had a shower, prepared for getting wet in the caves and packed all of my things away. I paid the hotel the 300 pesos and left my suitcase there. Later on add that the cakes are a bit like someone making them from a picture without knowing what they should taste like a bit like my bag for example which has a headphone hole that has fabric on the other side so can't be used. I headed out and tried to get water refilled next door at the Sagada guesthouse but the owner was busy with breakfast. I went to tourist information who told me there was another water place further down on the way to the caves, the also had the bus times which were 1pm or 6pm, so I'd try to get the earlier one. I walked south and got to where the water filling place was but I couldn't see it so I asked someone working in a restaurant and he had a look outside and said the place was closed and filled up my water bottle for free which was nice. I had on my board shorts for the cave which meant I had less pocket space and I'd also wrapped up things like my camera to waterproof which was s bit premature as there were some nice vista's and I had to untie the bags to get my camera out. I got to the path to the burial cave and didn't see any registration desk so I walked there and the cave looked ok. I couldn't see a way down though as it was a fair drop and I didn't fancy that. I had s look around for another path but the path was through the cave. I did see lots of coffins along one wall which is why the cave had its name and I had another look for a route down and there was one but I didn't think I could get back up so I would have to go all the way through which was risky especially on my own. I heard some people coming so I talked to them and it was 2 people who had given up on walking through in the other direction and had come here with their guide. I headed back to the main road and walked along to where the path for the big cave was and this time there was a desk and a guide who had a couple of Filipino tourists to show around. I asked if I could join them and share the cost and the girl agreed and introduced herself as Lesley, her boyfriend as Dan and the guide was Joseph. We walked down to the outside of the cave and Joseph lit his oil lamp and a group of young girls with their guide went past. It was dark in the cave so my phone didn't take very good pictures, but I found my camera once I unwrapped it again did a good job. The Filipino couple took lots of photos of the cave but mostly of each other in the cave, Filipinos like Malaysians like taking photos of themselves. The cave was a bit wet and slippery in places but we went slowly so it was a doddle for me. Thankfully Lesley managed it all the way and Joseph pointed out various rock shapes and the names for them, a few womens anatomy rocks. There were some pools of water we had to go through and a rope we had to use to lower ourselves down and then back up. Joseph did that one handed as he had the lamp which was quite impressive. We were back out around 11.15 which gave me time to get back and have lunch. They didn't know how much the guide was and checked and Joseph said it was 250 per person, 750 in total but a local woman sitting near said it was 500 so I left Dan and Lesley with 170 and left. On the way back I got a photo of some more hanging coffins (above). I tried to eat at my guesthouse so I could use the wifi but they weren't serving, I also wanted to change clothes so I did that in the toilet. I found somewhere for lunch and had a chicken dish that was a bit tasteless. I packed my suitcase on the bus and went and got some snacks and after asking the price for 3 things all 20, I ended up buying them all. The first was scones, about 8 and they didn't have much flavour, the second looked more cakish but was disappointing and the third was 10 biscuits which were good and oaty with seeds. Paul and Francisca were also on the bus and as I got on late I was right at the back but at least I had more space for most of the journey. The bus journey was pretty fast considering the small winding roads and I couldn't do much as a result although I did eat quite a bit. We arrived quite late after 9pm and the place looked busy and not very nice. I didn't fancy going too dar so I looked nearby and the 3rd place had a room for 500 for the night so I took that and went out to find food. I met up with Paul and Francesca who had just found a hotel to go to and I had a burger on a buy one take one offer except you pay more so it's nothing like a BOGOF deal. 1 burger cost 20₱ and 2 cost 37₱ so there is a small discount. The internet place I had seen was shut as were a lot of places so I went back and did a few things before sleeping.
