I got up at 6 and left 10 minutes later and got bus 181 for 1,500 to the temple. It was a short walk along a winding road to Yonggungsa Temple and then some steps down. The location was good, right on the sea front with the rocks but I'd missed sunrise by a long way. I went around and again there were lanterns for the 3rd May celebration coming up. 11. It looked a lot nicer than Beomosa but I suppose wasn't as big and I went around in less than 30 minutes and left getting the bus back. It was gone 8 so I was in a little rush and showered, had breakfast and cooked my sausage which may have been ok just to eat. I tried the soup as well along with my 6 slices of toast and left close to 9am. The tube and light rail were fast though and I arrived on time at 10.30, brushed my teeth as I'd forgotten in the rush and went to check in. I didn't have a flight out which seemed to be a problem and the uk.gov website said you may need onward transportation but the Eastern airline person gave me a form to fill in to indemnify them and it was ok. I walked around to see what shops there were and found some computers so I updated my blog a bit before going through security and passport control. On the other side I found water, a charging point and a 7-11 with normal prices, this was airport heaven. I selected a pot noodle and a sushi roll but the girl in the 7-11 wouldn't let me buy the pot noodle to use in the airport. I could have lied but decided not to and ate the sausage I had which still had a plastic wrapping around for me to peel of. The plane checked in late at 12.20 for a 12.30 take off so we were a bit delayed but the flight was really quick so we arrived on time, a bit like Ryanair although even with their strict luggage allowance they didn't question my rucksack and suitcase carry on. I went through immigration who didn't ask if I had an onward flight, picked up my backpack and went through customs. There was a stand saying free WiFi and the person there tried to download the app for me but I had no memory space for it, something to resolve. I got some money out and dallied trying to find the best and cheapest option for trains and whether to get a 3 or 5 day pass. Eventually I just got a train to connect to the subway and then opened maps later and realised I was right near my hotel but the doors closed and we went one more stop. I found another train and took it the one stop back but then my ticket didn't work as I was at the wrong place even though I'd overpaid to be there so I jumped another barrier. I walked to the hotel and saw a coin laundry on the way then walked past before finally seeing the hotel and getting room 604, a small but ok room with a futon and a little old TV. I left my things and headed out towards the zoo. It was about 4.40 when I got there and they had stopped letting people in as they close at 5. The nearby art museum was also closing and charged ¥300. I walked through Tenoji park which hsd s lake to get to a temple but they had had something happen there like a wedding and were clearing up and I wasn't allowed in. I went back to the lake to get to a temple but there was no access there so I went east to Shittenoji temple which had a big pagoda but as it was gone 5pm it was already closed. It had some scaffolding though so I wasn't sure it was worth the entry price and there were a few things and buildings to see around the outside anyway. I looked at maps and there was a line if temples and shrines which looked amazing, a bit like what Bagan looks like in a map but with buildings and grass around. I headed west to there and there were graveyards and small house type temples that looked private with a lot of them locked. There were so many all a bit similar with graves and a temple building. I went north seeing a lot of them and at 6.20 went west to the river which looked ok but didn't have a walking path alongside for the first 100 metres. Then I went south along a busy shopping street, past some theatres and a row of computer shops. They also still had adult shops and earlier I'd seen adult only hotels and I also found an arcade with games from the late 80's and 90's like double dragon, final fight, r-type and streetfighter. I suppose the 90's were the glory days of Japan and it didn't look like they were more advanced any more. I looked around some shops and bought some food from a ¥100 shop, a bit like our pound shop but it was mostly food. Further on was a tower that was lit up which was tall enough for a view but not spectacular, and I didn't even check the price. I went back to the hotel and was in time to gave a shower as men were supposed to use the room from 5.30 to 9. Someone was finishing up and I had it to myself and had a quick dip in the bath as it had been a long time without one. I decided to stay there another night and booked it, then I did some planning and ate a pot noodle watching before the flood on my phone as the TV didn't work. I was tired but phoned home and watched some more of the film before going to sleep.
