I woke up early but went back to sleep and got up late past 8. It was nice having my own room but I had a shower and packed up. I went out to get some breakfast and newspaper for the shoes which were still wet. I ended up in a place on Jalan Alor where I tried the rice porridge and also got some plain rice. I had bought some baked beans from a store earlier and I managed to find a newspaper so I went back and ate the baked beans with the plain rice making quite a full breakfast. It was past 10 so I checked out and got my 30 RM deposit back and went to plaza Low Yat where they do IT things and I'd bought a lot of things last time. This time I was just looking for an SD card and I was in a hurry as I wanted to get the 12pm bus to Jerantut. I checked on 3 floors and eventually bought one on the 2nd floor for 35 ringitt. I headed back to the hotel and picked up my things, and went to get a GOKL blue bus from Bukit Bintang. It was about 11.15 and I thought it would be plenty of time to get there but the bus went slowly in the traffic and spent almost 5 minutes at a red light. I got there with just under 10 minutes to 12 and found the bus for Jerantut but the ticket booth told me it was sold out for the day. They still had about 5 busses to go but no seats on any. I had a look around to see if any other busses went before heading to the train station. I took the red GOKL bus which went to KL Sentral and I found the ticket desk no problem. The person at the counter said I needed a ticket number to be served so I went to the counter giving them out and was asked where and when I want to go and I got told there were no trains, the next train is the 29th of May. I asked if there were busses and she told me to go downstairs. I went downstairs and I couldn't see any signs for busses it was all trains. I went through the station and out the other side and asked at a monorail desk where the busses were. He asked where I was going, then made a phone call and then directed me to the bus terminal where I had been earlier. I went back to the train desk and asked a few more questions to make sure there was nothing I could do. It seemed it was Ramadan so lots of people were going home and all trains were seater only there was no standing. It seemed to me there was a problem if there were no trains available for 3 days and I went to find the GOKL bus. I looked around and just couldn't see it so I asked at an information desk who directed me outside and left. I went outside and left and ended up walking around the block and back inside the station. I went back to the information counter and again they said it was outside to the left. I went outside and it was just there but there were no signs but still somehow I'd not been looking properly. The bus came and I took it to the bus terminal. On the way a Malaysian asked me where I was going and it turned out he was looking to take a bus tomorrow . I told him to get his ticket as the trains were all sold out and he said normally this time at the start of Ramadan is ok. I got to the bus station and bought a ticket to Jerantut for the next day and 8am was the first bus. Then I took another GOKL bus where the WiFi worked as so far they hadn't. It was a green bus which wasn't the way I really wanted to go but I had the whole collection now. I booked a hostel called Travellers hub in Chinatown and then I managed to cancel my booking at Jerantut by phoning Agoda. When the bus stopped at Pavilion I changed bus and went to Pasar Seni station and then walked from there. I couldn't see the hostel at first but the road names were readable so it didn't take that long to find it. I checked in after a short wait and got a bottom bunk in a spacious room with 10 or so beds. I left my things and didn't really have anything I particularly wanted to see and it was also quite late. I headed to the botanical gardens past the Kuala Lumpur train station which looked nice and I bought a thin chicken burger for 2 ringitt opposite the National mosque. I went into the police museum which had quite a lot of information although a lot was about the police being formed in each state. They also had 2 videos, one about the early days of the police from the Portuguese colonisation of Malacca through to independence and the second video was about fighting the communists after WWII ended. I left and went to a memorial museum for the 2nd president of Malaysia but it was past 5pm so it was closed. Further on there was a comic book museum which was also closed and I walked back a different route along a main road which took me to one of the cities tourist information places where I had started a tour from. It seemed so long ago now and I remember planking outside. I walked under a busy road to the grass square from British colonial times and took some pictures of the buildings around it. I carried on across the bridge where the 2 rivers meet and they were still doing work there and if anything it looked worse than last time. I walked through a market and looked in a shoe shop for soles for the Nike trainers I'd rescued but they didn't sell any although I could have bought a cheap pair of shoes for just 10 RM. I got some fried savoury Indian food shaped as balls to eat the next day and went to my favourite Indian restaurant. I ordered 2 plates of rice, a different curry and a water and the man brought me some extra sauce for my rice which was nice. I ate up, paid the 11 RM and headed back to the hostel, stopping in a church on the way. They had a lot of interesting books there so I picked up one by Malcolm Gladwell called "what the dog saw" and I decided to see what the breakfast area looked like as it started at 8am and I would have to leave at 7 to get my bus at 8. It was up some steps a rooftop kind of bar area a lot like the one in Danang Vietnam where I had got drunk. I went outside where there was a view of the Petronas towers and ended up talking to an American guy called David. He had been living and travelling in South East Asia for the last 7 years and had a blog about various places. We talked about travel places and travel stories until 8pm when he headed off to get some dinner. I went downstairs and used the computer there which was an Apple so was difficult to use but I managed to update my blog a bit. The room had the lights off already at 10pm as some people were sleeping so I read a bit outside before going to sleep at 11.
