I woke up at 6am but didn't feel too good and I couldn't remember what I'd done with my bag and things. I went up to the roof bar but there was nothing there. I checked my locker and my black HP bag was in there so I went back to sleep. I woke up at 8 and as breakfast was served I went and had some. There were 2 German girls but they didn't want to talk then the Spanish guy joined us. Most of us had the egg with pancakes and after that I showered and packed up and decided to see a bit more of Danang before leaving. I walked to the nearby pink church (one of the highlights of the walking tour) and there wasn't a service on this time. Then I headed south to the Cham sculpture museum but it was 40k entry and I'd heard it wasn't very good so I carried. I visited 2 temples before another museum about Ho chi Minh and included a replica of his stilt house he lived in but it was shut for lunch and also 60k entry. I headed east and therewere some miltary buildings where armed soldiers didn't want me taking pictures. Further along was a park space near the Asian mall funfair area and there were big government buildings a tall flagpole and an interesting art monument with a mosaic inside. I walked past the funfair area where people were paying to dress up and take their pictures. Then past an ok looking football stadium I came to a mall and on the 4th floor a supermarket and toilet I used. I wasn't really hungry maybe as my body was getting energy from the alcohol of the day before but I still bought a couple of things to eat. I left and went across a concrete bridge and then headed south towards the secret resistance area k20 which I had seen advertised the day before at the marble mountains. This wasn't too far from the karsts but I'd needed to research online to actually find out where it was and there was a map with a few places to see. When I got to the area there was a temple to see and then the first building was shut but did look like something for visitors. I had my lunch and continued to the other places on the map but none was set up or open for tourists. There was a memorial and 2 more temples and I found the house of a woman which has a secret underground passage but she was sleeping so I didn't try to see it. I headed to the old airport which was also listed as there were still some American hangers. There was a lot of construction work there and they wouldn't let me close so I went round the corner and climbed up to the wall and took pictures over it but really it wasn't worth it. I went to the main road to get a bus but I saw it drive past before I could get there so I was really wasting the day and would have to wait probably 30 minutes for the next bus. Instead of just waiting I walked along the road and got the bus when it came which was pretty full, this time I paid 15k fare and stayed on past the hostel to go to the train station. The bus stopped a bit of a walk and I went to a couple of wrong places before the train station which had a train in front. I asked when the train was but it was 6.40pm in 3 hours which is a bit too late. I walked to a temple which was wooden and old looking and then I went to a lake park area which had some deer, monkeys and even a crocodile in cages. Finally I got back to the hostel and as I'd had trouble finding internet places in Vietnam I used their computer for 30 minutes before leaving. I went round the corner to wait for the bus and a guy with a motorbike kept trying to get me to go with him shouting motorbike as if that would change my mind. The bus came in a bit and was pretty empty and this time I only paid 10k but overall I'd paid 85,000 on this bus route. At the bus station I wet to Futa buses as they had been good but they didn't go to Hue. I found a minivan across the way that was going there so I got on and had to pay 100k which is more than I expected as I'd read the train was 75k. I waited as a few more people got on and then we headed off and at least I was moving at 5pm which meant I was saving time over the train. We didn't go far before stopping to pick up more people and then we did a slow drive around for 30 minutes before the bus was finally full and we could actually drive to Hue. The bus made reasonable pace along the road and through a tunnel but it was a little cramped and cold. The weather was not looking good and it was dark as well. We arrived on the outskirts of town much further than I had expected, at least I had thought the bus would stop closer than the train but I really should have gone for the train. It was only a light drizzle but I got my umbrella out and fended off the taxi requests. It did look a bit of a distance on the map so when a motorbike guy said 50,000 and reduced it to 40 I went with him. It was a little scary with a suitcase on my knees on the back of a motorbike in the dark and wet. I gave a mis-direction near the end and ended up a few hundred metres from the hostel and paid him 45k. Another guy on a motorbike tried to sell me marajuana but I walked off and found the hostel which seemed ok. The guy on the desk didn't even ask my name and I got a bottom bunk and sorted a few things out like charging batteries, drying clothes etc before heading out wearing a jumper snd carrying an umbrella. Apparently it does rain or drizzle a lot in Hue which made me wonder why the emperors lived here. I looked around for food and got offered weed and cocaine from guys on motorbikes before eventually had sticky rice with chicken which is what a tour guide was having. He lived in Hoi An but worked for a tour company which had a guide for north central and south regions for every tour and he did central. I went to an internet cafe next door and they had good speeds so I got a bit done and then decided to cross the bridge to see what was on the other side. It looked quite good there is an island created by 3 rivers and then there is an Imperial palace with a moat and a wall so you would need to cross water twice to attack it. I was kind of liking the look of Hue as there seemed to be places worth visiting, certainly more do than Danang and Hoi An. I found a mobile fast food place and got a banh mi (bread roll) for just 10k which I was happy about and I headed back to the hostel and got offered drugs a couple more times on the way.
I read and did some research on my phone and then read some more as there was a German girl next to me having a phone conversation in her bed until 11.30 when I turned off the lights and said something to her.
