I woke up at 6.30 but lay in until 7.30 as breakfast started at 8. I showered and got ready and found yhe breakfast laid out when I went downstairs just before 8 so maybe I could have got there earlier. It was toast and ham again with juice and 6 slices later I headed off and bought another 1 day tube pass. I went to Beomasa temple which is quite a long way and then took a path to the temple. It was raining a bit and the path was muddy so this may not have been the best option and soon my feet were wet. At the temple I went around the museum part first which was just a room with things in although the brochure provided explain them. I went to look around the temple and there was a big hall but it wasn't very well connected to the rest of the temple which again gad lots of lanterns all over which as nice as they are do block the view of the buildings. An old Korean man offered to guide me around for free and explained some of the rooms and who was worshipped there. There were a lot of women, mostly older at the temple praying and after having 2 halls explained he saw some other tourists who were from Holland and joined us. The guide described a room with 8 paintings of Buddhas life after which he finished and I went around the rest of the temple then headed on. There were 2 more temple sites listed on the map and as I headed there I found the place where you xan stay the night in the monastery, unfortunately there was nobody around so I couldn't find out the price. The first of the 2 temples looked like people lived there but the 2nd had a prayer going on and was a decent size. I left and stuck with my plan to visit the fortress so I walked up along the path through the woods and got to the north gate. It had stopped raining but it was quite misty and overcast still so I'm not sure why I decided to carry on across the hill and park to get a tube on the west side. I headed towards the peak and because I was charging my phone I didn't check the map but when I did I was going south instead of West and the fact that I'd been going downhill and my destination was a peak should have been a giveaway. My brain just wasn't in form and I walked the 560m back to the north gate and headed in the right direction. It was 12pm and I just had 2 apples and 4 biscuits to carry me through which is one of the reasons I chose to go west and get to some shops rather than south where I would link up to a temple I planned to visit but it was further before I reached shops again. The walk was quite nice despite the low visibility and there were steps up to the top which was 810m high, technically a mountain. There were a few other people around and some mountain cats. I got lost at the top trying to find my path and then decided on a diversion to a temple which was fairly normal but did had a toilet nearby which I visited and it was just a hole with loads of shit below. At least there were no flies maybe because it was too cold. I headed on and my path was a dubious muddy narrow path which I ran down some of the way but still hot to the end later than I'd planned around 2pm. There was a temple there which was quite big and I found a shop where I got 500g of tofu, some sausages and some hard barley biscuits as they were all cheap. I ate the sausage and some of the biscuits and took the train to Mandeok which would let me visit another temple. The station was deep as we had an elevator, escalator and then a fair few steps to the surface. I found a shop and bought a pot noodle which I used to cook a lot of the tofu which did cool down the hot water and meant the noodles were not fully cooked. I ate as I headed up towards the path but there was construction work around and it didn't look like the path I wanted was accessible so I took another path instead. I was heading up towards the temple but instead of taking that path I continued straight towards a memorial which was only 1.1km away on the map. It was a combination of believing it wouldn't take that long, not being sure that the temple was where it said it was and seeing somewhere else as well but it cost me a lot of time as the path curved and went uphill. I did get some views though and the sky was clearer and made the top around 4pm to then turn around and head down a different path to the temple. The temple didn't look much when I got there and the views weren't that good either but then I went a bit further they had some stone carved Buddhas in a crevice which had a shrine higher up. It wasn't so bad after all but didn't take long to visit and I went back down and found the path that I originally had wanted was fine to use. I went back to the subway and too the train past my hostel 2 stops to the end of the line to visit the Yonggun temple. I got out and couldn't find myself on the map because the station was not where I thought it was and the temple was an hours walk away. It was gone 6.30pm so I wasn't sure how long the temple would be open for so I decided to see it the next day as I'd need a bus anyway and I headed towards the coast to see the beach and some other things. I stopped at a shop and got a carton of juice and the church that was supposed to be there was a modern one not worth seeing. There was a bookmark for a place called Moontan road which turned out to be a walk along the coast where the moon is supposed to light the way. It was still light though so I largely ignored it and carried on to the beach which was a fairly long strip. There was an aquarium about midway but it cost a fair bit and I walked all the way across the beach and on the other side walked along the path to where a mermaid statue was sitting in the water. The path onwards was blocked which was annoying and I had to go back to the beach and take another path to the end of the cape where there was a lighthouse and a bit further along an exhibition place which was closed. I'd missed a bit in the middle of the headland and went up steps to a memorial there in the dark. I went down and ended up back at the lighthouse as I'd taken the wrong path again and I left the area and went to a hill on the mainland where I went up in the dark. On the way up there was quite a large exercise place with machines and hula hoops and then further on the path there were small stone pyramids which I don't think were that old. I walked in a circle route and missed a path in the dark but backtracked and made it to a small shrine that wasn't worth seeing and then a temple near the bottom which was closed. I headed back and went to a shop where I got a unusual sausage, some yoghurts and an ice cream. Back at the hostel I researched Japan on the internet and then read before going to sleep in the room that was empty apart from me.
