I woke up a bit late maybe 7.30 and felt tired. The bed curtain did a good job as it was dark but when I pulled it back it was quite bright. I wandered out to find out about the breakfast and get some water to drink and found a kitchen with a sign on the fridge saying breakfast was help yourself and there was bread, milk, apple juice and jam. There was also a washing machine and no sign so I got my clothes and put them in and used the internet to find translations for the buttons so I got a normal wash. It would take 55 minutes so I had plenty of time to eat 5 slices of toast, shower and use the internet a bit before I could hang my clothes outside on a washing line. There wasn't enough pegs so I left the t-shirts hanging and went to see what the noise was as it sounded like a rapper or a mosque but turned out to be some kind of fruit and vegetables auction place in a big shed. I got my things together and wore shorts as it was warmer than Seoul and headed out along the river. The river was wide but there was just a small stream of water and I had heard that it rains mostly in summer in Korea so it probably does fill up. I walked along to a temple sight where there were some small ruins remaining and they were excavating as well. There was a small temple behind a wall called Bunhwangsa which was 1,300 but I could see most of it without paying so I headed on to a 3 tier pagoda and took a nice diagonal path shortcut which was not on the map. The pagoda was ok, small and yet big as well and I tried to find another shortcut from there back to the road and south and ended up going up a small hill in a forest which was peaceful and cooler and also had some humps that were probably tombs. I got lost and hit a fence so I had to scramble through the forest a bit more but it wasn't so hard to walk through and I made it to the road and then under the railway and I got to the main road where there was a bus stop. There were 4 buses that stopped there and I didn't know if any would go to the temple so I got on the first one, a 600 and paid with 2000 even though I'd heard it was 1500. The machine gave change though and it was 1700 fare. The bus went as far as the junction which was ok and I had a 30 minute walk to the temple from there with a brief stop at a modern church. I got to the temple and it was 5k entry like the website said and not 4k like a brochure I'd picked up so I paid and went in and wandered east to the lakes area and the toilets which I needed. I walked around trying to see everywhere and accidentally wandered outside but git back in no problems. I went around the temple buildings and there were some small pagodas and a hall with scaffolding which was disappointing. One of the halls had a Korean National treasure Buddha inside and there were more halls and another national treasure Buddha. I left the temple and went along road and found a shop with sushi which were apparently going bad so the woman took them all away and wouldn't sell them even at discounted rates. I bought a pot noodle and a sandwich and ate them along the road which took me to a craft village. It wasn't very busy and I wandered up the hill and around and the venues where it looked like people went to were kind of closed or otherwise I didn't want to disturb as it was just me and I didn't plan to buy any pottery or such. I found a museum which was expensive and I checked the wikitravel article and found out that I'd missed the grotto which had the Buddha in which was recommended, it had been near to the temple and not where I thought it was. I thought of going back but didn't and came to another shop which did ceramics and the lady talked to me for a bit and said how her husband travelled putting on shows because the ceramics they did was famous enough for that. I left the area and got a bus towards the town and the bus route took me past some sights including a lake, funfair, and a hotel area with things made especially for tourists, it was a bit artificial for me. I got off in the main town area and went to the museum. It was a reasonable size and focused a bit more on the history of the region and the kingdom that was there during the 3 kingdom period. There was another building behind which said it was an art gallery but really was a museum and then there was one more building which was the museum of lake wojii, a nearby tourist attraction where a lake was recreated in its old form. I left and walked along a hill until a fence blocked my route. I headed for a path and there were more archaeological excavations going on and I came to a park forest area with tombs which I went around. I left there and went to a Confucian temple place which was a bit plain and also might have been closed as there was only one entrance and exit so I climbed over a wall as it was quicker and went to Che???? House where a rich family had lived in the area and they did things for tourists now including let them look around the house which was of a similar size to the Confucian place. I next went back past the park to an observatory which was scaffolded and boarded which disappointed me as I liked the look of it. Next there was a tomb area which was 2k entry and I walked around the outside and saw there was door into one of the tombs. The next tomb area free and I had a look around the mounds but there were none you could go inside. I went to a convenience store which was pretty good and got a rice ball to eat then headed through town to a market area and a street with information signs about the areas history. I went to a memorial hall listed on maps but it wasn't there and I went to another market but didn't buy anything. I found a supermarket on the map but it was really just a convenience store and my next bookmark, a Buddhist exhibition hall was not something for visiting. I went back to hostel and found a big supermarket on the way which was a discount place and I got some tofu, eggs, noodles and went back to the hostel. I couldn't see my washing as I was getting there, had someone stolen it or had the owner taken it in? I got closer and saw that my washing was on floor as the wind had been strong and I'd only had enough pegs for a few items. I took in the dry items and pegged up the others and went to cook and eat. I took my washing in and went out for another walk, this time to the north. I came to a park in the dark and had no camera so I couldn't get pictures as my phone is bad in low light. They had a lot of exercise machines and a monument and I saw a strange building which I couldn't decide whether it was worth going to or not but I left it and went across the bridge to the west to a temple place with a view. It was quite a nice place but in the dark there wasn't that much to see although I did get a better view of the strange building and still couldn't work out what it was. I carried on and there was some kind of carpet on the path and I made it to a road and thought I could get up on a bridge but there was no access there so I had to go through a tunnel and avoid cars coming. On the other side there were stairs up and I went across the bridge and then through town. I found a supermarket and almost bought biscuits but bought some juice and when I got back I was interested in why I was so hungry, so I did a calorie count and it was a normal amount. I read, blogged a bit and researched some places to go and see before going to sleep.
