I woke up early as the person above me was busy doing his things before finally leaving having shaken the bed multiple times. It was 5.30 and I got up at 6.30 as my bus was at 7.30. I had breakfast and tried the bread with egg instead of noodles, it was similar with a good omelette and just a long roll which is so common here. The 2 girls who were biking were here as their bikes had had problems so they hadn't gone anywhere yesterday. They left and I waited until my bus came. The bus was fairly full when I got on but at least my suitcase had the luggage compartment as most bags were chucked on a seat and then moved off to the floor so that every seat could be used. There was an English couple next to me who were complaining about the bus, too warm, too many people, no space for luggage, road too bumpy etc. I thought it was ok as it was only 4 hours but someone did manage to switch on the air conditioning about an hour in. We had a stop around 10 for lots of people to buy ice cream or a meat roll for 40k or 50k which did look decent at least. Around 11.30 we arrived and I asked for a bus to Hoi an but they were booked up on the 7pm bus the only one they have, it was probably a blessing considering their bus. I went to look for a bus and left my suitcase there so that it was closer to a hostel if I couldn't find a bus. It was a bit of a walk so maybe I should have taken the suitcase, but the first place I found didn't go to Hoi an leaving just the Futa bus or travel agents. Futa also didn't go to Hoi an but they did go to Danang which is nearby so I bought a ticket for 8pm for 220,000. I went back and got my suitcase and left it there with everything I didn't think I needed including my umbrella as the skies looked so blue. I headed north and found a market which seemed to have a lot of tourists go there so I walked on and went the wrong way to an area with hardware shops but I couldn't find a bracket for my suitcase. I crossed a different bridge from the original plan and went to see the Cham towers which were ok, at least over a thousand years old but naturally had a lot of visitors. I tried on the free gown they give you and visited inside some of the towers and took my shoes off and the ground was very hot in the sunlight. The main tower temple was small and took a while to get round as people bowed three times to all 3 Buddhas. I left and got a sandwich which was not good and overpriced at 20k. Then I crossed back over the other bridge with nice views and came to the beach which I walked along. The beach was a bit dirty and I found a bin bag so I picked up some rubbish and threw it away and then entered a museum where I washed my hands. The museum was 20k and was about Yeresin, a Swiss bacteriologist who'd lived in Nha Trang and helped with curing the plague over 100 years ago in Asia, he'd also explored Vietnam a bit for the French but it was a small museum. I left and walked inland to a church which was quite nice before getting to the train station. I didn't bother look for trains and briefly viewed the memorial opposite before carrying on to a temple. It was around 4pm when I got there and it was a decent temple with a main hall, a reclining Buddha, a sitting Buddha statue at the top and a graveyard with small graves probably for cremated people. There was also another temple a short walk away I went to before heading back. I had to cross a level crossing but the train came so I waited before hoing to a supermarket. It was good to be somewhere where everything was priced and I got some juice, a mango, biscuits and I splashed out on 200g of processed cheese for 29k. After that it was getting late so yhe temple I walked past was closed and I got to the beach at 5.30. There were lots of people especially tourists there and I lay down for a bit listening to music. I got up after 4 songs and walked along the beach and felt good, the sun had gone down but it was warm, I was relaxed and moving on soon and there was a good song playing. I carried on walking and went a bit far to see a monument and a couple of other things I'd marked on the map. It was dark and after the monument the castle thing was not visible or gated or something and the temple was hardly worth seeing. It was getting late so I wouldn't have much time at the bus station to do some of the admin things I had planned so I walked faster along a dodgy dark road with development work happening and through the park with a fountain and along the beach front to a monument I'd not properly visited as you can climb up. I headed in back to the bus station and was there just after half 7 so I tried to charge my power banks, sort my luggage out and use their water machine and toilets. The bus was on time but was fairly full and I was at the top and there is not really space for luggage so I put some things in a cloth back abd checked my other bag into the hold. I read a bit and couldn't connect to the wifi on the bus. The lights went out so I listened to music before getting comfortable lying on my side and trying to sleep.
