I didn't have to get up that early but was up at 7 anyway and got ready before going down to wait for breakfast. I fixed sunglasses with superglue again and packed most of my things away in case I needed to change rooms and I decided that as flights to Kuala Lumpur direct from Seoul were so high I would take the cheaper flight to Kota Kinabalu and then book another flight from there which would also give me the chance to see the mosque they use as the icon picture for the place. The girl preparing the breakfast started early which was good but she wasn't so good and some things took longer to prepare and then one of the toasters broke and I never even got a single egg as they weren't ready yet. I checked with the guy and I could stay in the same room which was good so I messaged Konstantin and left around 8.55. It was about 30 minutes to the bus terminal so I hurried and got there just a minute late at 9.21. The 740 bus wasn't there and I found out it runs once an hour on the hour normally, so I bought my ticket and as I couldn't find Konstantin I sat down and messaged him. He turned up around 9.30 and his hostel was too far to go and wait there so we waited in the shade of the bus station so he didn't get burnt. The bus took us to the Eormok stop where one of the trails started. It was s nice day but there was a tour bus with a load of youngsters in a group climbing the mountain as well. The path was a lot of steps to start and we managed to get past the group and Konstantin only needed 2 brief stops which was good. It started through the forest which was cool and then opened up and we got some nice heather type areas with dome flowers and a small railway next to us. There was a viewpoint and as it was 12 I ate my tofu and gave Konstantin one of my noodles as he hadn't brought any food. We carried on and it was along a path which was nicer and after a while we came to the rest area. We had a look to see what food there was and they only had a few options including a pot noodle for 1,500 but Konstantin got a chocolate cake and chocolate bar. I ate some fish sausage and my noodles and we headed on with less people walking this part. We started to get views of the top of mount Hallasan with its rocky craggy features. It was no wonder there was supposed to be no access from this side. We walked closer and then the path went around to the south and we got views all the way to thr south coast and more of the mountain top. I still wanted to climb to the top and Konstantin was up for it as long as there was some kind of path. I was looking for one and he suggested we go to the top of a ridge so we left the path and trudged through the bushes only to find that the path had followed us around and was not so far away. Some Koreans started shouting at us and we weren't making good progress so we went through more bushes back to the path. We followed the path to the end where there was a hut and the map showed that there used to be a summit path but it had been closed. I could still see the path outline through the bushes. Konstantin didn't want to go along a non path again so we headed back and it was later than I wanted. We made it back to the rest and food area and they'd closed the path we'd been on for the day. I went to the toilet which had painted doors and then we carried on down. It was a shorter route but also had different views which was good and we made it to the road where there was a shop a bit before 4pm. There was no sign of a bus stop so after a quick look in the shop we headed along the road. Konstantin didn't want to have to walk all the way if it was 4 kilometres so we went back to ask some people where the bus went. The lady in the shop showed us a bus schedule and the next bus north was in 30 minutes and there was one south in 40 minutes. He got an ice cream and I tried to access WiFi to find out when the last busses were running as I didn't want to get stuck down south without busses. I couldn't get properly online and I decided to play it safe as it wasn't just me so I decided to get the bus back. We waited and the bus was late until the other bus was due but was also late. I went to check in the shop and saw that the bus timetable had a message below saying to walk 2.5km to the bus stop. There was just one more bus for the day and it went north back to Jeju city so we walked to the bus stop and after 10 minutes got on the bus when it came. Konstantin had some rest and I blogged a bit on the bus and then left Konstantin to go back to his hostel. I checked the bus timetables and then went to see a few sites in the town even though it would be dark soon. I walked to some supermarkets and found a place selling a big bunch of bananas which were only a little ripe for 3,000 do I got those and in another shop I bought some fish in a can, wrapped cooked broccoli and potatoes. It was all in all 4k and left me with just a few coins left so I couldn't buy more even though I wanted to. I looked for an ATM and found one at a bank. I tried to use it but there was no English option and like Nick had said when he used one the other day there were lots of options like paying bills. I pressed lots of options but really couldn't get it to work and my translate wouldn't work either so I gave up and went to the coast. There was a couple of viewpoints there and despite the sun having gone down the view was still ok with some rocks including a dragon shaped rock or so they had named it. I went East towards the hostel and came to a bridge with coloured lights on that alternated colours. It looked good but it was hard to find a great photo spot as there were a few other things to try to get in the shot and there were trees around. I carried on back to the hostel and asked at reception where I could find an ATM and he told me there was one in the C U convenience store just at the end of the next block. I went there but the shop was closed for a short while or at least that's what I thought the sign on the door said so I had to go to another shop where the machine had an English language option. I think it charged me 2,400 for the pleasure and after all that walking I had decided to take out 80,000 which I then took with me to the supermarket and used to buy a few things, pretty much the same as before. I went back to the hostel and there were loads of shoes at the entrance hall of my room although most people weren't back. I ate a bit of food and planned where I was going and booked some thing. I went to bed around 11 but had to wait while the guys in the room used the toilet before we could switch off the light and I could sleep.
