I woke up feeling better and had messages from Ann who'd gone to Salsa and it had been free but then it went until 2am which is a bit late especially since its not near to the hostel. We arranged to meet for lunch later on at 12. I went for a walk north and west and found that jeepneys go south along a road not far from the hostel, I also picked up some breakfast from food stands (not burgers today). I went as far as Rizal park which had a Valentine's display in the park and they also had a show on later even though its normally only on weekends. The light and sound show about Rizals death I found out was broken and I met Paul the tour guide again. I went back to the hostel and my money was down to maybe 400 pesos. I packed up my things and then walked to Makati for lunch. There wasn't anything to see on the way but the Chinese embassy was nearby so I planned to go there afterwards. I got to the mall a little early and people were giving out free roses to women and there was a band playing. I went up to the 2nd floor and found the place but Ann messaged me to say she was still in a meeting. I listened to the band a bit but after 30 minutes my battery was running low so I turned my phone off. I turned it back on and Ann was on her way, then I got a second message as she was already here but my phone had been off. We met up and had lunch and then walked to a park. She'd just been given more responsibility at work but no pay increase and wasn't told it was going to happen so I said she should ask for more. She was also thinking of going to Taiwan and maybe Macau in April with her brother. She went back to work at 2.30 and I went to the Chinese embassy which was shut, apparently they only open for a couple of hours.I went back to the hostel and paid for my laundry, had a shower and then went to an internet place for a bit. I checked my money and I had about 160 so not enough for a haircut and not enough for a taxi, trike or airport bus. I wanted to leave some to the poor people I'd seen sleeping on the streets but I was worried I might not make it to the airport. Around 6pm after a few emails and downloads to take advantage of the great wifi I headed to the road with the jeepneys.
I saw a couple come but they were pretty full so I walked down a bit and they kept coming full up which is no good as I had my suitcase. The traffic was also bad as it was rush hour and after walking for a while I decided to go east and catch the train. The train took me 3 stops and not too far from the airport and I had googled it and I was in terminal 3 which I'd not been to before. I walked along a main road but then I couldn't cross it and had to go further along out of my way where there was a bridge. Across the other side I walked back and headed south down a road that was a bit smaller and found a place where I got some food of spaghetti, rice and lumpian for 40 pesos and I still had about 100 left . I crossed onto the other side of the road and tried to get a jeepney but they were still mostly full and it was dark which made it harder to see and I also wasn't sure they went the right way so I walked down to the next junction and I probably should have waited there before the turn as they have to stop but I'd crossed the road and then I had the same problems. In the end I kept walking and then took a side road as it looked less busy to get to the airport. It turned out to be inaccessible and I got shown a car park to cross to the airport but it was grave so the suitcase wouldn't roll on it. I picked it up to carry and the handle broke so I had to use the other side handle. I got into the airport and the security guy wanted me to go a long way around but I showed him my boarding pass and he let me through. I checked my suitcase in and went to try to find some poor people to leave some money with but the road was full of expensive places like a Marriott hotel. I went back and found a better road but there were no homeless people so I ended up buying a mango and some snacks and then back at the airport they didn't have a charity box but they did have a machine that put the money on my PayPal account so I got a whole dollar of credit. The plane was on time and my seat was in the centre of 3 so I went to the back and got 3 seats to myself and read on the flight. We arrived at 1am which I hadn't realised as there was no time difference and after customs and luggage I managed to get money out and get a bus for 125 dollars (about £3.20). It went into town but not quite where I wanted and after other people had stopped the bus for the 2nd time I got off as it wasn't going much closer. I walked a couple of kilometres including over a bridge and got to the the bear capsule hotel just after 3am but they checked me in and the capsule looked nice and it was a shame I couldn't try it out a bit more but I planned to go south in the morning and went to sleep.
