I woke up around 6 but got up at 6.30. I had a shower and then breakfast which was ¥500, and wasn't quite as good as it looked before. The eggs were raw and said not to cook and I didn't see anyone else eating them. The salad was ok, there was fish and potatoes and it was OK. I used the computer a bit but it was really slow. I packed up and wanted to microwave my tofu but it still had water in and I also wanted to get some water which involves pouring it into a glass and then into the bottle but the man there helped and filled it up only the cap had gone missing. He offered e 2 bottles of water and I took one and had to dash as my bus was soon. It was raining and I caught my bus so I was doing something productive with the weather, life had given me lemons and I was making lemonade. The journey was OK, seat belts were required and we stopped somewhere which had a Buddha statue. We arrived and it was still raining and I caught a train for ¥170 to Kanda then walked to the hostel using a map I had from the last time I was here. I found the hostel with no problems which is something as the map didn't have much detail as it covered most of the city. The hostel was cleaning until 3pm so I left my bags there and asked them where is good to get a USB cable. They said Akihabara has lots of electronics shops and I had a look at a map of they had of processions going on this weekend for an event and while I was there one happened outside before I left the hostel. It was a bit like a Chinese new year thing but without the Lion/Dragon. I was wet and it was past 3 so I went back to the hostel to check in and got a bottom bunk at the back which was good. I charged my phone, dried out a bit, changed my socks and then asked at reception for a supermarket and there was one not too far away. I went there and they had an umbrella for ¥700, less than the ¥1000 prices I'd seen so far so I bought it with some food and ate back at the hostel. I headed out again back to Akihabara and saw another procession on the way. At the shopping area I looked around more than last time and went into some other shops including one which sold power chargers even cheaper than I'd paid. I headed to Akihabara in the rain, and my lemonade time was over as the rain was not light and my umbrella was in bad shape so I got a bit wet on the way. I got there and saw a big electronics shop with 7 floors so I went in and looked for USB cables. They had lots of iPhone accessories but not much android so I went up to the next floor and there were general USB cables but none phone specific and there was also a stationary section. Still that was a maybe but I checked the 3rd floor and it was all cameras so I left. I walked around but couldn't find many electronics shops but I did see some more of the procession thing going on this weekend. I headed back and found a couple of shops and one was much cheaper than what I'd seen before so I got a power bank for ¥800 and tried to charge my phone but it still wasn't working. It was crazy how much variance there was in prices in Japan for no reason I could see. One shop would sell it for 1300, another for 800 and another for 550. I couldn't find any shops selling phone batteries and I bought a 1m USB cable and saw some shops selling 2nd hand or new sim free phones including a tone m14 phone which was ¥3980 and that might be my best option. I headed back via the supermarket where I got some more food. Back at the hostel I ate my food, left me phone charging and locked away and asked at reception where would be a good area to look around this evening. South near Tokyo station was OK and they also looked into where I could use the internet and found a manga bookstore which was 24 hours but ¥200 per half hour. I decided I could always go there later and I took my map which had done OK so far and my umbrella and headed south where they had recommended. One of the processions near the hostel had finished for the day so I walked through the people finishing up and leaving some with short bottoms on. The walk took me to a big road with some nice buildings and on to a shopping area. I went inside Uniqlo and it was their flagship store with 11 floors and men's were near the top. I had a look and found some trousers which might be good to replace my chinos which were past their last legs but the store closed as it was 8 or 9pm. I went a bit further south in the Ginza area and found a great supermarket but I had a lot of food already so I just bought a couple of things. I was fairly low on money anyway and I headed west and then north past an old train station hotel and back to the hostel. It was late and I didn't feel like going out for the internet so I did a few things and then went to bed.
