I woke up at 6.30 but felt tired and lazy so I slept some more and arose at 7.30. It was bright outside when I opened the window I had managed to close the night before and I had some bananas and tomatoes for breakfast before showering and packing a bit. Packing for a flight home is never as easy and I had to make sure my penknife and liquids were in my backpack for the hold and I also planned to throw away the HP bag. First though there was more if Phetchaburi to see and I headed out north to see the cave. It was a bit of a walk without much on the way for quite a while, having gone through some backstreets it was just along a wide main road but there was a Temple there with quite a few buildings so I looked around. I left a carried on to the cave area, and someone offered me a lift for the short distance which I didn't need. The first cave was pretty good and with openings and lots of statues. The sunlight shone in as a beam of light which made it look even better. ve separated I went round tunnels to more caves and another entrance/exit that was closed due to maintenance or some work then went back to the main cave for more pictures. I left and walked to the next cave which was smaller with a low entrance. I went through to an opening and there was another one nearby but not so special. I left and headed back into town and went to the furthest hill first as I wanted to see how much time I had to fit everything in. There was a motorway to cross which was not so easy without a crossing and I ignored the temple nearby as many are not worth visiting and there was no reason to think it would be good. I tried to find a shortcut but there were lots of dogs barking at me and I went up some steps, but there was no route up so I went down some other stone steps and left the area and the barking dogs and went along the road instead where I came to more monkeys. I saw a large golden buddha up a hill and headed that way but first came to a temple place up some steps and as there was no way upthe hill from there I went back down. I carried on to the proper temple and took the path up to the Golden Buddha. There were nice views of the area there and it was empty. I looked around and went back down, a different way to another temple section with a pagoda. At the bottom there was also a cave so I looked inside and it was small but with statues. I left and headed back to town and stopped at the Tesco, but there was not much good there and I just got some egg rice which was not labelled properly so there was a problem paying for it. I headed back to the hostel and packed up, checked out of the room and left my bags. I left and headed to the palace stopping at a temple and on the way bought some food. The palace was ok and free to get into the gardens but then the building entry was round the side and 50 baht for foreigners with no tickets and no sign just 2 girls at a desk. I wandered round to a customers relations building where a woman there confirmed it is 50 baht and 2 Thai tourists came with me and they paid 20 per person but I still paid and went in. There were descriptions to start and information, it turns out King Bhumibol is also King Rama IX. I went upstairs, around, back downstairs. There were some empty rooms but the stairs were nice. I left and stopped at temples on the other side of the river on the way back including some I had walked past the night before. I stopped in a supermarket and got some more food including rice, peanuts and bananas and I stopped in the shade and ate the rice. I carried on and found a water machine to use and went back to the hostel where I picked up my bags and went to the train station as it was about the time I should leave to get to the airport in time. The rest was my journey home which I have separated.
