The ship woke me up around 7am as we were near to Manila so I got up and got all my things ready putting the life vests back and returning the sheets. We actually arrived at 8 so not that late considering. I found a jeepney that was going in the right direction and got on as did others and it was full up with people and luggage when I found out the price was 80 pesos but it was a lot of trouble to get off so I stayed on and helped a French couple go to their hotel. I got off a bit late and walked past a fountain on the way to the hostel. I checked in ok and the extra 1 USD I'd paid meant I was on the 4th instead of 5th floor so no noise from the bar but I still had a top bunk. I got all of my clothes out and the hostel was happy to get them washed but I would get them back the next afternoon which was ok. I weighed myself on the scales and I was up a bit to 70kg, must be all the cakes. I soon headed out for breakfast and bought 2 hamburgers and then a few things from Robinsons supermarket. I headed south and ate a papaya before coming to a museum of contemporary art where the 100 peso entry put me off. I walked around the block trying to get to a fort and park marked on the map but the area was blocked by security so I carried on to the Vietnamese embassy and went in a Buddhist temple next to it which had a very minimalistic prayer hall. The embassy was shut for lunch so I tried to see a place marked as an attraction on the map but there wasn't really anything there so I went to what looked like an area for staging the ASEAN games or something but I wasn't really allowed through. I wasn't feeling too well so I headed back to the hostel and rested for a couple of hours.
I got up and Ann was interested in doing salsa that night so I said maybe and asked for details. I went out to get some food and had beef with rice and Vegetables and went back to the hostel. The salsa place looked a bit far and might charge entry so I decided to miss it and went to the internet cafe for a bit before grabbing 2 burgers and some spaghetti, so I had a fair bit of beef that day. I went back and didn't do too much before going to sleep close to 11.
