I woke up at 3am, the room was colder and some cockrels had started early or maybe it was that I had a decision and I wasn't happy with it. I lay in bed until close to 6 then got ready including putting all my things back in my suitcase which I had taken out to repair it. My tooth was holding in place even when I had breakfast and brushed my teeth so I just needed some dental cement. I paid for the room and was running low on money and I got a tuk tuk for 15k to the bus station. I was there at 7am so I got my ticket, left my suitcase in the bus and went for a walk. There was a monument and the visitors centre not too far away but the map had no direct route. I tried anyway and there was a path across a field and the river on the map was a small stream which I jumped but managed to splash myself. I walked to the monument which turned out to be some random shelter which I'm really not sure what it was. I tried to get to the visitors centre as it was just 800 metres away but there was no direct route so I went back. I crossed the stream no trouble this time and saw a boy by a house who said sabaidee to me (hello) so I said sabaidee back and pointed at his yellow kite and said nice, he replied thank you, so he spoke some English and was polite as well. At the bus station I managed to charge my phone a bit before getting on the bus which left a couple of minutes early. It didn't feel great wasting a day heading back on myself but I wanted my usb and I couldn't risk missing my flight. The bus made reasonable headway and I stayed sitting through the 2 brief stops to pick up/drop off people and we arrived at the lunch stop if the crossroads after 1pm. I bought some rice for 5k and told a couple how much it was but they went looking for something else. I started eating the rice and had a crunch as my tooth had come out again. I put it in a small bag so that I could have it fitted later and ate the rice on the roundabout which had a bit of shade from the hot sun beating down. After a while we got back on the bus and got to Luang Prabang around 3.30. I asked about the bus to Vientiane and it was at 5pm would arrive at 5am and cost 110k which meant I could catch it the next day if I couldn't get a good refund on the flight. So I booked a hostel called LPQ and found that the tuk tuks all wanted 20 but I got one to accept 45 for 3 people as the couple were going somewhere but they took ages looking for a cheap place so eventually I walked off and then found a tuk tuk on the road that accepted 15. He picked up another passenger on the way so he did ok. My dorm was packed with about 5 people doing all kinds of things and it was the middle of a beautiful day. I left my suitcase and some things and headed out to get my usb from the internet place, but when I got there it was shut so it was good I didn't have the 5pm bus booked. I walked around town to see a few temples I had missed and also went to the funfair. Then I went up a part of the central hill I had missed to where the Buddha's footprint was. I don't think it was actually his footprint though since he was an Indian Prince originally. Then I walked around the hill but not at the top and the views were not too bad. I went down to the supermarket as the sun was setting like molasses in the sky. At the shop I got some juice, tomatoes and pot noodles which I took to the hostel I stayed at before as they had hot water. After my nutritious dinner I went back to the hostel and tried the internet place on the way but it was still closed. I sorted out a few things at the hostel and read a bit while charging things and then went to the internet place which was open, finally.
My usb was there thankfully and I was the only person there but I got a few things done then went to the night market which was closing up at 9.30. I walked to the end and back and before going back to the hostel where I realised I had left my usb cable at the internet place. I went back there and it was closed so I went backto the hostel and read before going to sleep.
