I woke up around 7 and had breakfast then showered and used the internet a bit before going to the walk. It was 8.30 and the walk was in Chinatown so I walked there and saw a few religious buildings on the way. Singapore also has quite a lot of information plaques for places like the old fire station, a hotel and a theatre which were added in 2015 to celebrate 50 years of independence. I arrived in Chinatown which not surprisingly had quite a few decorations up but I didn't know where exit A was so I went into the station which was quite deep and even then finding it was not easy but I did just get to the meeting point in time. Nothing quite says Chinese new year like a big orange cock. There was about 12 people there and Wei turned up soon after so we all did introductions before we started the tour. There was a Hindu temple, Buddhist temple and a Tao temple on the tour as well as a city planning building which had a scale model of the Country. He also explained how social housing tower blocks worked in that everything had to be within a 5km radius - schools, community centres, shops, markets and the bus and MRT station, it reminded me of playing Sim city as a kid. We stopped for a break at a hawker centre where Wei recommended chicken and rice and a few tried it and said it was good. We continued the tour and headed to an area called club street as the Chinese had come from different parts of China they had set up clubs to look after groups. Some clubs were based on where you were from, others what job you did and some just what name you had. Most clubs had shut down and become restaurants and such as people spoke English now. Next we had a view of the tallest buildings in Singapore (height restricted for the purposes of planes) before getting to an old Taoist temple which we went around. They had quite a few information plaques which I tried to read as well. The tour ended here and I briefly looked in at an Indian Muslim museum which I planned to go to later. I got to Chinatown MRT again at 1pm and met Sia Yuan (from Mensa) for lunch at 1.15. We went to a famous hawker place which had a Michelin star and had since moved to its own premises but was still cheap. Food was good but not as outstanding as I expected and we talked about Sia Yun's singing as she has a Chinese new year concert coming up. She invited me to attend her rehearsal the next day so I accepted but that meant I had to change my (loose as always) plans. We went our ways around 3pm and I walked around the nearby Hindu temple before going to the Buddhist tooth temple with 4 levels. Turns out it was constructed less than 10 years ago and had some history on Buddhism including that there is expected to be another Buddha in the future but I couldn't work out if they would come soon or in about 5,000 years. They had some free books so I took a couple to read more. I remembered that Wei had also mentioned a roof view on his tour do I went back to see that and it was ok but blocked on most sides as it was just a normal block of flats. By now it was getting on so when I got to thecity gallery they were closing in 15 minutes so I rushed round looking at their methods of planning tbe Country and reading some of the stats. I left and went to the Indian Muslim museum which was supposed to be open until 5.30 but it had shut early. So I checked out the map and decided to go to the gardens by the bay east side to maybe see sunset before crossing to the main area and see the supertrees show and the fountain show. It was a long walk and went past the F1 circuit which had not been taken down. Then I couldn't cross the bridge which was kind of a motorway one, there was a pedestrian walkway it was just here were no steps up so I had to carry on past some construction work before I could join the road and now I was on the wrong side so I didn't have a view of the city or the sun going down although it was still a bit away from sunset. I did get across the bridge and had to walk further along before there were steps down and I could make my way to Gardens by the bay east side which had lots of cyclists and some people running after a days work. The sun was setting which was nice and looked pretty good with the city and the F1 circuit. I got to the end of the park which had some construction work and wet across the new bridge which created a reservoir and stopped the river reaching the sea. Then I was in the normal gardens by the bay and I headed to the Supertrees but there was loads of construction work which I didn't remember a month before and I ended up going along the road and possibly places I wasn't supposed to but I got to the park and there were some statues, ponds and then the Supertrees which looked cool but it was still early for the show so I rested on a stone bench. It got to 7.45pm and the trees did a few minor things but not much, I waited 5 minutes before I checked the map and realised I was in the wrong place and went to where the proper supertrees are and the show had already started. I should have realised by the fact that nobody was here. the show was basically the trees lighting up different colours and patterns and music playing. I left before the end to see the fountain show and got there after it started and all of the seats were gone but I sat on the steps which still left space for people to get past until 2 other people sat next to me and blocked the stairs. The show was exactly the same as a month ago when I was here so I didn't watch it all and left before the end to avoid the queue at the station. I got the train and made my way to where I was meeting Tiong the sight co-ordinator for Singapore. I was there a bit early and got some food from a supermarket including bananas, moon cakes and some chicken ham. I ate some before it was 8pm and I went back to the cafe where he was waiting but did not recognise me and I didn't recognise him as we both didn't really have pictures to go on but since I was the only European there and I was from London he did guess it was me and we sat down, had a few laughs, had a few serious conversations and his partner Amelia turned up and we had more tea and they had some cake. I left around 11 and got back late to do a bit more internet before bed.
